For those seeking a program combining studio instruction and ensemble performance, consider applying to the Bachelor of Music degree.
All first-year Bachelor of Music students take foundational courses covering Music Theory, Music History, and Music Skills (including Sight-singing, Ear-training, and Keyboard Harmony). The curriculum also includes a half-course in either music composition, teaching & learning, or popular music & culture, along with one music/non-music elective and another elective outside the Don Wright Faculty of Music. Students receive weekly one-hour private lessons, masterclasses, and ensemble participation.
Bachelor of Music (Honours) students typically choose their specialization near the end of first year after evaluating their skills and interests. Alternatively, students may opt for the general Bachelor of Music track without declaring a concentration.
Admission requires demonstration of at least a Royal Conservatory Level 10 performance standard (or equivalent) on an orchestral instrument, along with proof of outstanding performance ability.
Applicants must complete six approved Grade 12U/M courses, including English (ENG4U), and receive faculty approval based on an audition and interview.
