The Faculty of Music provides two undergraduate programs: the Bachelor of Music (Mus.Bac.) and the Bachelor of Music in Performance (Mus.Bac.Perf.). Performance degree students start their specialization immediately in first year, while most Bachelor of Music students (excluding Music Education in Classical & Jazz, Composition, and Comprehensive-Jazz) complete a Common Year first. This foundational year allows them to fulfill core requirements while exploring potential focus areas like History & Theory or Comprehensive studies. Those interested in Music Education (Classical) or Composition may choose to delay their specialization until Year 2 after completing the Common Year. All students must complete essential Basic Music courses covering historical, theoretical, and performance studies, forming a shared academic foundation for all music students.
The Performance program develops skilled, innovative musicians with strong artistic potential. We emphasize cultivating versatile performers who honor musical traditions while exploring contemporary approaches. The curriculum focuses on individual instruction, masterclasses with faculty and visiting artists, ensemble participation, and diverse performance electives. Students gain experience through solo recitals, chamber music, and specialized courses in performance techniques, pedagogy, music business, and cross-cultural studies. This comprehensive training prepares graduates for advanced study and various music careers.
