Earth Sciences explores our planet's complex systems. We investigate Earth's inner makeup and structure; its active nature (seismic events, volcanic activity, continental drift); internal mechanisms; surface-shaping forces and crustal materials; relationships between terrestrial processes, climate patterns, and ecological balance; the formation, distribution, extraction, and preservation of natural resources (minerals, energy sources, soils, and water); Earth's position in our solar system, and the evolution of life.
Western University's Earth Sciences Department fosters a collaborative, vibrant community that blends advanced theoretical and practical research with exceptional mentorship for students at all levels. Our alumni hold positions in private sectors, educational institutions, and public agencies globally.
