The field of Computer Science is expanding quickly, creating numerous job prospects. Canadian government forecasts indicate a deficit of skilled computing professionals that could reach tens of thousands. The Bachelor of Science with a Major in Computer Science aligns with the educational standards set by CIPS (Canadian Information Processing Society), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). These guidelines address the demands of the tech sector both domestically and globally.
This curriculum incorporates classes from systems, theoretical, and business application areas. Its purpose is to equip students with practical computer science skills while informing them about the societal, moral, and legal aspects of the discipline.
Students may participate in an optional co-op program, provided they maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA ("B" average) in their Computer Science coursework.
The Computer Science Major appeals to those pursuing careers in Information Technology or advanced academic research. The Minor program suits students seeking to complement another academic discipline with substantial computing knowledge.
