This program targets university graduates holding a relevant undergraduate degree who seek professional teaching certification. As a 1.5-year post-degree program worth 62 credits, it leads to a Bachelor of Education that must be pursued as a second degree. The Secondary pathway also accepts applicants with Red Seal certification in approved teaching areas, even without an undergraduate degree. The program spans three consecutive full-time semesters, with enrollment exclusively in the Fall term. All classes are conducted on Nanaimo's campus, with no summer sessions offered.

Candidates may choose between elementary or secondary teaching specializations. The curriculum and practicum experiences align with either elementary or secondary education, while both pathways qualify graduates to teach middle school levels.

Graduates emerge as fully prepared entry-level educators. After completing the program, they become eligible for recommendation to BC's Teacher Certification Branch (TCB) for professional certification - a mandatory requirement for teaching positions in BC's public, independent, or offshore schools.
