This diploma equips graduates with the skills to: Implement the National Competencies for Canadian Opticians established by the National Alliance of Canadian Optician Regulators to deliver optimal patient care. Operate in compliance with applicable laws, Standards of Practice & Guidelines, and the Code of Ethics outlined by the College of Opticians of BC. Foster and sustain cooperative relationships with patients, peers, and industry experts. Deliver ethical, transparent, and personalized care that acknowledges and accommodates individual diversity. Utilize fundamental knowledge of optics, eye anatomy, physiology, and pathology to guide professional opticianry decisions.
Exhibit safe and proficient practice in all areas of dispensing eyeglasses, contact lenses, and low-vision aids.
• Grade 12 graduation, or equivalent
• Math 11 with a C- grade, or equivalent
