Operate and care for tools and equipment following industry guidelines. Exhibit professionalism and effective communication with clients and colleagues. Understand skin and hair anatomy, recognizing potential conditions and disorders. Provide shampooing, conditioning, and scalp treatments using proper techniques and professional products. Execute precision haircuts with various tools and methods. Style hair using wet and dry techniques, along with appropriate products and tools. Master the basics of professional hair coloring and lightening with specialized applications.
The Hairstylist Certificate program aligns with industry demands and SkilledTradesBC’s training objectives. It offers diverse learning experiences through classroom instruction, salon practice, and workplace exposure. Students will refine their skills by serving clients in the VCC Salon and Spa, while industry placements allow them to apply their expertise in real-world settings. Classroom learning focuses on building theoretical knowledge and practical abilities essential for success in the VCC Salon and Spa.
International applicants must be 17 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.
