NSCAD provides a unique design education through its cross-disciplinary program. This curriculum prepares students with essential abilities and insights to work across various design fields, including print, digital media, physical products, and service design. With an emphasis on diversity and teamwork, the program fosters analytical reasoning and visual competencies, helping students adopt the flexible mindset and techniques characteristic of modern designers. The four-year Interdisciplinary Design major at NSCAD University examines a broad spectrum of products and services. Its coursework combines human-centered knowledge, technological proficiency, and artistic principles to address current societal and ecological issues. Guided by dedicated instructors and industry experts, students gain expertise in design thinking approaches, visualization techniques, user experience design, and manufacturing workflows.
Applicants currently completing high school must submit a record of all studies from at least grade 10 onward. These transcripts should include at least mid-term or first semester grades for the graduating year.
All high school applicants must have completed grade 12 (or the highest grade level required for secondary graduation) with an average of 70% or higher, including a minimum grade of 70% in grade 12 English for university preparation. Advanced Placement (AP) courses with a grade of 4 or higher are eligible for transfer credit.
