The Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences offers cross-disciplinary programs that take a comprehensive approach to environmental understanding. Grounded in sustainability principles, these courses deliver a unified perspective on environmental systems, human influences, and solution-oriented frameworks for ecological challenges.

Bachelor of Science students can specialize in one of four concentrations:

Forest Ecology - exploration of forest ecosystems, biological processes, sustainable forestry practices, and forests' significance in broader natural resource management
Forest Policy and Management - examination of forest ecosystems with emphasis on governance structures, cultural considerations, and stakeholder involvement in policy development
Chemistry - investigation of environmental chemistry fundamentals, particularly organic, inorganic, and biochemical processes
Global Environmental Systems - analysis of biogeochemical cycles, sustainable land use strategies, and anthropogenic effects on ecosystems

Qualification Requirements

You are a current high school student studying at a school in another Canadian province, and expect to graduate from grade 12 (or equivalent).

Test of English as a Foreign Language: Requirement/Score: Internet-based - Achieve a minimum score of 86 with no less than 20 in each component.
