Biology explores all forms of life, ranging from DNA structures to how organisms interact within Earth's diverse ecosystems. This vast field covers specialties like Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Ecology, Genetics, and Molecular Biology. The Biology Department provides three degree options: a 3-Year BSc, 4-Year BSc, and BSc Honours. Those enrolled in the 3-year or 4-year BSc programs can opt for a Business Stream—a selection of essential courses from the Faculty of Business designed to equip students with industry-relevant skills. Refer to the "Science with a Business Stream" section in this Course Calendar for details. Biology courses also form the foundation for the Environmental Studies Forest Ecology Program, Forest Policy and Management Program, and Biochemistry Program.

Qualification Requirements
The language of instruction at The University of Winnipeg is English. Students must have a level of ability in English that allows them to participate in all aspects of university study, including lectures, reading, writing, and discussion. If English is not the student’s first/primary language and they are not from an English Exempt Country, they must provide supporting documentation to show they meet one of the conditions below. Students will not be admitted until this requirement has been met. English language measures older than two years will not be considered.
TOEFL - Achieve a minimum score of 86 with no less than 20 in each component. IELTS - IELTS Academic, Online & UKVI: Minimum overall score of 6.5. Cambridge Assessment English: C1 Advanced & C2 Proficiency - Minimum score 180.
