The Human Rights program at Global College enables students to focus their studies on both historical and modern human rights challenges. This curriculum examines how human rights principles emerged and developed, along with ongoing discussions about their meaning and scope. Students gain practical skills and theoretical knowledge for human rights education, activism, and addressing violations. The interdisciplinary Human Rights major incorporates viewpoints from history, geography, philosophy, legal studies, anthropology, and peacebuilding. Degree candidates may complete an academic practicum either locally or abroad for credit toward graduation requirements.

Qualification Requirements

The language of instruction at The University of Winnipeg is English. Students must have a level of ability in English that allows them to participate in all aspects of university study, including lectures, reading, writing, and discussion. If English is not the student's first/primary language and they are not from an English Exempt Country, they must provide supporting documentation to show they meet one of the conditions below. Students will not be admitted until this requirement has been met. English language measures older than two years will not be considered.
TOEFL - Achieve a minimum score of 86 with no less than 20 in each component. IELTS - IELTS Academic, Online & UKVI: Minimum overall score of 6.5. Cambridge Assessment English: C1 Advanced & C2 Proficiency - Minimum score 180.
