Examine how gender, race, and sexual orientation influence everyday experiences and interpersonal connections. You'll gain insights from globally recognized experts in equity, diversity, inclusion, and sexual violence prevention education. The Women's and Gender Studies program equips students with analytical tools to understand how power operates through interconnected systems of discrimination based on factors like ability, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, race, sexual orientation, and belief systems. This interdisciplinary field challenges conventional academic knowledge frameworks and motivates students to implement theoretical concepts in personal contexts while becoming catalysts for societal transformation. Our curriculum highlights the interplay between regional, international, and cross-border political influences that mold gendered and sexual identities. Designed to strengthen community engagement, the program empowers learners to formulate personal interpretations and deepen their involvement in socio-political contexts.

The University of Windsor's School of Social Work houses a Women and Gender Studies curriculum that facilitates rigorous interaction with feminist academic work. Course offerings span diverse subjects including the evolution of feminist activism, critical examinations of mainstream media from gender perspectives, and investigations into various manifestations of discrimination. Learners explore the complex interplay of identity components such as racial background, economic standing, sexual identity, generational differences, and physical/mental capabilities. The program fosters critical thinking skills that enable students to relate academic concepts to societal frameworks and personal realities.
