Examine how gender, race, and sexual orientation influence everyday experiences and interpersonal connections. You'll gain insights from globally recognized experts in equity, diversity, inclusion, and sexual violence prevention education. The Women's and Gender Studies program equips students with analytical tools to understand how power operates through interconnected systems of oppression including ability, class, gender, nationality, race, sexuality, and spirituality in societal organization. This interdisciplinary field challenges conventional academic knowledge frameworks and motivates students to implement theoretical concepts in personal contexts while becoming catalysts for social transformation. The curriculum highlights the interplay between local, international, and cross-border sociopolitical influences on gendered and sexual experiences. Designed to strengthen community engagement, the program empowers learners to construct personal understandings and deepen their involvement in sociopolitical contexts.

At the University of Windsor's School of Social Work, the Women and Gender Studies program facilitates critical examination of feminist academic work. Course offerings cover diverse subjects including the evolution of feminist movements, feminist critiques of popular media, and investigations into various oppression mechanisms. Learners explore the complex interplay of identity factors like race, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, age, and physical ability. The program fosters critical thinking skills, enabling students to relate academic concepts to societal frameworks and lived realities.
