The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures (Département de langues, littératures et cultures) provides a Modern Languages program featuring diverse Spanish Language and Culture specializations. Whether beginners or advanced learners, students will be placed at suitable levels after a proficiency evaluation by program advisors.

Language acquisition combines practical immersion (classroom exercises focusing on pronunciation, speech patterns, body language, and real-life scenarios) with theoretical approaches (such as grammatical analysis techniques). Students benefit from our Multi-Media Language Learning Lab and departmental mini-lab for additional practice. Cultural understanding develops through studies of Spanish and Latin American history, contemporary society, along with classic and modern literature and films.

The curriculum incorporates comparative literature, applied linguistics, and cultural studies to situate Spanish language and culture within broader contexts.
