The French Studies program within the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (Département de langues, littératures et cultures) provides a diverse and thorough curriculum featuring language instruction, linguistics, francophone literature and cultural studies, as well as translation. Graduating with a French Studies degree unlocks numerous professional pathways, including education, public service, journalism, media, and commerce. Furthermore, fluency in a second language has become a crucial—some might argue indispensable—skill for today's university graduates, particularly in Canada's workforce as a prominent G8 country with official bilingualism.

Students can pursue either a three-year General degree or a four-year Honours degree. We also provide a combined BABEd program in French Studies and Education, incorporating hands-on teaching experience.
