The Biology Department provides thesis-focused graduate programs for both M.Sc. (Master of Science) and Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degrees. Students in these programs must complete coursework, typically chosen from Biology Department offerings, though courses from other university departments or institutions may count with advisory committee approval. A minimum of two courses must be from the Biology Department's selection. All graduate students must complete the Graduate Academic Integrity Module, an online course to be finished within the initial 8 weeks of their first term, which appears on transcripts. The Integrity Office will notify students about this requirement, distinct from the mandatory Academic Integrity Workshop.
Integrating animal and plant studies with cellular and developmental research highlights fundamental biological similarities. Fostering collaboration among scientists using comparable methods and experimental strategies can drive innovative discoveries.
