The SciCom research team focuses on developing techniques and tools for applications in medical imaging, financial derivatives valuation, investment portfolio management, biomedical simulations, computational brain science, and physics-based animation. Researchers create and evaluate algorithms for solving complex sparse matrix systems, extensive optimization challenges, least-squares problems, and numerical approaches to partial differential equations. These computational methods undergo rigorous testing across various practical fields. Every application presents unique computational obstacles. A key aspect of scientific computing involves identifying these challenges and addressing them through robust methodologies implemented in effective software. Ongoing partnerships with professionals in finance, visual computing, and healthcare have enabled SciCom researchers to better comprehend the computational demands of these real-world applications.
