From the beginning, we aimed for excellence in both research and clinical training, ensuring our graduates would become leaders in academic and professional psychology. For the past 30 years, approximately one-third of our alumni have pursued academic careers, maintaining significant roles as researchers and scholars, while the majority entering clinical practice have secured prominent positions such as head psychologists, leaders of large consulting firms, directors of internship programs, and officers of professional organizations. Our Clinical Psychology program provides comprehensive training that combines research and practice, equipping students for diverse careers in clinical research, psychological assessment, psychotherapy, teaching, supervision, and program evaluation.
In the Clinical program, applicants are generally accepted into the MA program first, with the understanding they will progress to the PhD. Occasionally, we admit students with an existing MA from another institution directly into our PhD program; however, the time saved may be limited (typically a year or less) since the structured sequence of clinical training courses usually must be completed from the start.
