The Master of Arts in Political Science is a cutting-edge, research-intensive program designed to equip students for diverse career opportunities in both public and private sectors. Alongside the standard curriculum, Waterloo's graduate students can participate in the co-op program, recognized as the largest of its kind globally. Learners will collaborate with distinguished scholars in Political Science who have earned national and international acclaim. This MA Program provides comprehensive education across key areas of the field, encompassing Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics, Gender and Politics, International Relations, Political Economy, Political Theory, and Public Policy. With the launch of our PhD Program in Fall 2022, MA candidates now benefit from an expanded range of professional development workshops, delivering thorough preparation for both scholarly and industry careers. The program offers flexibility with two completion pathways - the Major Research Paper or MA Thesis - enabling students to customize their projects according to individual goals and interests.
