The Master of Arts in Global Governance at the University of Waterloo breaks free from traditional academic constraints by integrating multiple fields such as economics, political science, history, sociology, and environmental studies. This 16-month program includes two terms of coursework, a third term dedicated to a Major Research Paper (MRP) on a student-selected global governance topic, and a fourth term featuring an internship in public/private sectors, research institutions, or NGOs. Exchange programs are also available. The curriculum addresses pressing worldwide challenges like peacekeeping, humanitarian emergencies, economic disparities, and climate change.

This interdisciplinary group fosters collaboration among scholars, students, activists, and professionals to analyze critical issues including decolonial approaches, racial equity in governance, disability rights, Global South perspectives on rights frameworks, justice advocacy strategies, humanitarian interventions, and restorative justice processes.
