The Master of Arts in Literary Studies (MA-LIT) program offers students flexibility in degree completion, allowing them to choose between coursework alone or a blend of coursework with either a significant project or thesis. Our curriculum explores both historical and modern aspects of British, American, Canadian, and English-language postcolonial literatures, along with their associated theoretical frameworks. Graduates of MA-LIT pursue careers across diverse sectors including publishing, corporate environments, government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, and entrepreneurial ventures, while some advance to PhD programs. This academic track requires the completion of six term-length courses and a research project. For the Major Research Project (MRP), proposals must present a concise 500-word summary (excluding bibliography) of the entire undertaking. The document must feature a header with the student's name, supervisor's name, second reader's name, and project title. Clear section divisions with subheadings and spacing are required, along with page numbering. This proposal serves to gather input from the thesis supervisor, second reader, and English Graduate Committee to facilitate project success. Graduate Committee approval is mandatory before proceeding. The proposal should clearly define the research objectives and specify the texts or materials to be examined, while also acknowledging key existing scholarship in the field.
