Established in 1963, our Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Training Program, accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), was designed to train scientist-practitioners following the Boulder Model framework. Since its inception, we've aimed for excellence in both research and clinical skills, enabling our graduates to assume leadership positions in academic and professional psychology environments. Historically, approximately 30% of our alumni have pursued academic careers as active researchers, while the majority entering clinical practice have secured prominent roles such as head psychologists, leaders of consulting firms, directors of internship programs, and officers in professional organizations. Our program provides comprehensive training that blends research with clinical application, equipping students for diverse careers encompassing clinical studies, psychological evaluations, therapy, education, supervision, and program assessment.
For the Clinical specialization, candidates are generally accepted into the MA program initially, with the understanding they'll progress to the PhD. We occasionally admit applicants with existing MA degrees from other institutions directly into our PhD track, though the time advantage may be limited (typically a year or less) since students usually need to complete our sequential clinical training courses from the start.
