Additionally, we offer language courses for students aiming to enhance their French proficiency. Detailed course listings and program details can be found on our website. Our Doctorate in French Studies is a four-year program featuring three key research areas aligned with evolving academic trends and workforce demands: digital archiving and electronic publishing, literature and theories of the Ancien Régime, and Francophone cultural and literary studies (19th–21st centuries).

Research on the Ancien Régime has long been a cornerstone of our Department's academic focus. Our team of globally recognized scholars explores diverse research areas spanning from the early Middle Ages to the late 18th century. Their work encompasses the analysis and publication of texts by women authors, the preservation of travel narratives and correspondence, and the influence of printing on the formation of literary traditions.
