The Data Systems Group develops groundbreaking platforms, systems, and tools for handling, organizing, examining, and retrieving the massive datasets crucial to today's digital world—commonly referred to as "big data" solutions. Our expertise covers all data formats from unstructured text to relational databases, including semi-structured information like time series, logs, graphs, and other varieties. We operate across the entire technology stack, from foundational storage systems to end-user applications and behavioral analyses. Our research addresses every stage of data processing, from initial collection and refinement to advanced analytics and decision-making frameworks.

Qualification Requirements

A Master's degree in Computer Science with a 78% average.
Student with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science may apply for admission directly to the PhD program. Successful applicants will have an outstanding academic record, breadth of knowledge in computer science, and strong letters of recommendation.
PhD applicants may be admitted into the Master of Mathematics (MMath) program. Like all MMath students, they will have the option to transfer into the PhD program before completing the master's thesis if their performance warrants.
