The Biology Department provides graduate programs leading to both M.Sc. (Master of Science) and Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degrees, with a thesis requirement. Students in these programs must complete coursework, typically chosen from Biology Department offerings, though courses from other university departments or institutions may be approved by their advisory committee. A minimum of two courses must be selected from the Biology Department's curriculum. Additionally, all graduate students must complete the Graduate Academic Integrity Module, an online course to be finished within the initial eight weeks of their first term, which will appear on their academic record. The Integrity Office will reach out to students regarding this requirement, distinct from the mandatory Academic Integrity Workshop.
By integrating animal and plant studies with cellular and developmental research, our programs highlight the fundamental connections among all living organisms. Fostering collaboration among researchers employing comparable methodologies and experimental strategies can drive innovative scientific discoveries.
