The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science ranks among the world's leading institutions for statistical and actuarial studies, boasting over 50 full-time faculty members engaged in cutting-edge research across various disciplines. Our academic offerings include undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs in Statistics and Actuarial Science, along with multiple collaborative degree options with other departments. We foster a dynamic research culture spanning fundamental statistical theory, longitudinal data analysis, computational methods, financial modeling, risk assessment, survey methodology, industrial applications, and interdisciplinary projects. The department maintains strong ties with campus research centers such as WatRISQ (Waterloo Research Institute in Insurance, Securities and Quantitative Finance), BISRG (Business and Industrial Research Group), PROPEL (Centre for Population Health Impact), CCMIC (Centre for Computational Mathematics in Industry and Commerce), SRC (Survey Research Centre), and several other collaborative initiatives.
