Pharmacists are specialists in medications who diagnose, address, and prevent drug-related issues for patients. While many practice in retail pharmacies, they also deliver care in hospitals, primary care teams, and nursing homes, frequently working in partnership with other healthcare providers. At the School of Pharmacy, students pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree through alternating academic terms and cooperative education placements. The School resides at the Health Sciences Campus in downtown Kitchener, about five kilometers south of Waterloo's primary campus. Students acquire hands-on patient care experience by working alongside various services at the Health Sciences Campus, which features a comprehensive medical clinic.
