The Bachelor of Public Health (Honours) appeals to students passionate about health determinants, particularly those committed to social justice and examining how economic, cultural, social, political, environmental, biological, and geographic influences shape individual and community wellbeing. This program prepares graduates as public health practitioners with comprehensive knowledge spanning all public health domains, from epidemiology and health education to policy development and healthcare systems. While physicians may treat individual patients daily, public health experts impact entire populations. Discover how societal, cultural, political, and environmental contexts fundamentally influence health outcomes - and how this understanding enables us to address contemporary issues like tobacco use, chronic diseases, and global pandemics. Through interdisciplinary learning, you'll master creating effective health policies and compelling public health communications. Your capstone experience will involve completing either a research thesis, independent study, or community-based project. This degree empowers you to create meaningful societal change, whether through infectious disease research (like COVID-19 prevention), youth nutrition initiatives, or enhancing elder care services in local communities.
