Explore the strength, beauty, methodology, and purpose of mathematics. In this demanding curriculum, you'll examine the full range of mathematical disciplines—from ancient to contemporary—encompassing geometry, number theory, and logical reasoning. With Pure Mathematics courses being some of the most intimate and tightly-knit in the Mathematics Faculty, you'll develop close relationships with both peers and professors. (Professors who conduct pioneering research outside lecture hours.) The program also offers paid professional experience through co-op placements. Pure Mathematics equips you with analytical abilities applicable across industries, businesses, government sectors, or advanced academic pursuits. Enhance your credentials with research. By applying for an Undergraduate Student Research Award, you could dedicate four months to compensated pure mathematics research alongside a faculty member. Connect with fellow math enthusiasts. The Pure Math Club hosts both scholarly and recreational activities, including faculty-student gatherings, mathematical competitions, game evenings, and shared meals. This honors program offers a comprehensive mathematical education focused on theoretical concepts and abstract thinking, while allowing flexibility to pursue interests beyond mathematics. Though optional, many students pair Honors Pure Mathematics with a secondary specialization. Numerous program alumni continue their studies at graduate level.
