The Mathematics Department provides courses at every academic level. Detailed program information is available on the Undergraduate and Graduate Program pages. Our faculty maintains active research teams specializing in various modern mathematical fields such as algebra, geometry, topology, analysis, and noncommutative geometry. Explore these research initiatives further on our Department Research page.
Western's undergraduate programs follow a modular structure, with multiple mathematics modules designed to align with diverse academic and professional goals. Prospective students should reach out to us or attend math department information sessions during the February-March registration period each year.
We strongly recommend undergraduates engage with faculty through research opportunities, the Mathematics Scholars Group, and our pizza seminar series. Our professors have a proven track record of mentoring honors students and welcome the chance to guide more aspiring mathematicians. Undergraduates are also invited to participate in MaCAW (Mathematics Club at Western).
