Explore how recreational activities can enhance life quality for all individuals, including those with physical or developmental disabilities, seniors, long-term care patients, and at-risk youth. Waterloo's Therapeutic Recreation (TR) program — one of just three in Ontario — teaches you to create inclusive leisure programs for people of all abilities. You'll also have opportunities to apply your learning through co-op placements if you choose the co-op option. Upon graduation, you'll possess the expertise to create meaningful change. As a recreation therapist, your designed programs could help prevent youth substance abuse, support senior independence, aid stroke patients' recovery, and more. Gain practical skills through hands-on courses, volunteer work, and a mandatory fourth-year internship. This program stands out in Ontario by offering multiple co-op terms.
