One of the greatest aspects of university life is the opportunity to expand your perspectives, uncover fresh passions, and participate in diverse extracurricular pursuits. Liberal Studies offers this flexibility. Often referred to as liberal arts programs elsewhere, Liberal Studies enables you to investigate numerous disciplines across humanities, social sciences, languages and cultures, and creative arts – along with courses you can select from Waterloo's other faculties. You can specialize your degree with one or more minors, or maintain a broad, general approach. (If you develop a deep passion for a particular subject, you can always transition to a major later.) Academic advisors are available to assist with degree planning and course selection. Enhance your education further through Waterloo's EDGE (experiential learning) certificate, Global Experience Certificate programs, or by combining Liberal Studies with an Honours Arts and Business degree. Key program features include: Over 100 study areas. Waterloo provides more than 100 academic disciplines, giving you extensive options (including the possibility to finish your degree fully online). Transfer-friendly policy. The Liberal Studies program accepts up to 50% of courses from other programs or through transfer credits from previous education.
