The Gender and Social Justice program educates students on social justice issues, focusing especially on gender's impact. Learners apply intersectional feminist principles in various contexts to foster equitable, inclusive, and sustainable communities both locally and worldwide. Whether pursuing a major, minor, or elective courses, students discover our curriculum to be current, approachable, meaningful, diverse, and unexpectedly insightful. These classes aim to foster understanding of marginalized groups affected by factors like gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, ability, and socioeconomic status. Beyond awareness, students employ intersectional feminist theory to critically examine systems and cultural representations. Investigate how gender influences societal structures. Champion fairness, equity, and progressive transformation. Understand the significant impact of gender and sexuality across all life domains. Throughout your studies, you'll cultivate specialized knowledge in gender-related topics, diversity, equality, and social justice initiatives. You'll become part of a vibrant student community actively involved in student organizations, departmental activities, university life, as well as the student-run Women's Centre, The Glow Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity, and broader community engagement.
