The Honours Studio Practice program equips students for careers in creative arts through hands-on training and critical thinking development in an academic setting. First-year students explore foundational art concepts through FINE 100 (Studio Fundamentals) and FINEVCULT 101 (Art History and Visual Culture). During their second year, learners select four or more specialized studio courses from over 20 options covering diverse mediums like digital art, sculpture, photography, and performance. The third year emphasizes refining technical abilities while cultivating independent artistic projects. In their final year, students concentrate on producing a unified collection of work for display at the Honours Graduation Exhibition each March. This practical training is complemented by studies in modern/contemporary art, visual culture, and interdisciplinary subjects. The culminating fourth-year studio course covers professional skills including artwork documentation, exhibition setup, artist statement composition, and catalog preparation.
