Literature captivates, educates, and changes us. It reveals the boundless potential of language, and studying literature provides valuable insights into language and culture that benefit aspiring PR specialists, attorneys, executives, technical writers, or creative authors. Your literature studies will expose you to the vast landscape of English literary works. As Ezra Pound famously observed, "Literature remains eternally relevant," meaning whether you're analyzing Chaucer, Mary Shelley, or Tolkien, each text offers fresh perspectives about yourself and society. This program delivers thorough grounding in English literature while encouraging you to follow your literary curiosities. Literature stands as one of three available majors. You'll examine global literary traditions—including British, postcolonial, Canadian, and American works. The curriculum spans diverse genres from Shakespearean plays to speculative fiction, from lyrical poetry to visual storytelling. Graduates emerge ready for advanced studies in law or education, graduate programs, or diverse professions in government, commerce, technology, or the arts—essentially any field that prizes superior communication and critical thinking abilities.
