Traditionally, environmental engineers have focused on purifying drinking water and mitigating pollution in our air, water, and soil. Today, the discipline also encompasses securing a sustainable future by leveraging scientific and technological advancements. This demanding career requires strong mathematical and physics skills, essential for all engineering fields, alongside a keen interest in biology, chemistry, geology, geography, and exploration. Like other earth sciences—such as biology, geology, geography, and ecology—environmental engineering involves fieldwork, lab experiments, and computer modeling. However, it uniquely applies mathematical and physical principles to develop practical solutions for environmental restoration. In essence, if you're passionate about solving global environmental challenges, environmental engineering is the ideal profession.

Home to Canada's most extensive Environmental Engineering program, this curriculum blends rigorous engineering training with environmental science expertise. Ranked among the world's top 100 programs (Shanghai World University Rankings 2020), it offers courses in engineering, chemistry, biology, geology, and other disciplines, equipping students to address pollution in water, soil, and air. Additionally, the program includes two years of paid co-op placements, providing financial support for education while helping students identify their ideal career paths. Graduates emerge prepared to tackle existing pollution and prevent future environmental crises.
