The Master of Social Work with an Indigenous Specialization (MSWI) prepares professionals serving Indigenous communities and organizations.
We understand that practitioners in these roles operate within distinct historical, cultural, and administrative frameworks compared to non-Indigenous environments. Our MSWI curriculum encourages growth in both knowledge and practice skills within this unique context.
The program starts with an on-campus orientation, followed by distance learning. Participants may opt for either a thesis project or a 450-hour advanced practicum.
This specialization caters to social workers employed in Indigenous service settings, where the professional landscape differs significantly from mainstream social work contexts. The MSWI equips practitioners with specialized competencies tailored to Indigenous community needs.
The program runs biennially (even-numbered years), blending initial on-campus sessions with remote learning components.
