Our Master of Social Work Advanced (MSWA) program builds upon a foundation of justice-oriented social work principles. This curriculum expands your knowledge of social work's societal, cultural, political, and practical dimensions. The program starts with an on-campus orientation before transitioning to distance learning. Students may opt for either a thesis project or a 450-hour advanced practicum.
Our School collaborates with students, faculty, staff, and instructors in collective efforts toward decolonization, anti-racism, anti-oppression, and social justice through leadership, research, and teaching. We aim to create both on-campus and online learning experiences that foster equity, mutual respect, accountability, innovative thinking, and collaborative problem-solving.

The University of Victoria actively promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion across all academic and professional spaces. We welcome School members and community partners who embrace diversity and engage thoughtfully with power dynamics.
The School provides an undergraduate Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and three graduate programs (MSWF, MSWA, MSWI), all incorporating social justice, Indigenous perspectives, and anti-oppressive methodologies for community and individual work. These CASWE-accredited programs operate alongside UVic's Indigenous research initiatives, including CIRCLE and IMN-PN.
