This program provides comprehensive training in professional research methods. You'll enhance your academic writing and critical thinking abilities while developing your thesis.
You'll participate in faculty-guided research across various specializations: Cognitive and brain sciences (including embodied cognition, memory, and visual perception), Social psychology (covering interpersonal dynamics, motivation, and personality traits)
Health and development across the lifespan (from early childhood to aging and self-regulation)
Alternatively, you may pursue customized research projects aligned with your specific interests.
The Psychology Department typically receives 200-400 graduate applications annually, with only 10-12 students admitted. MSc candidates must hold a BA/BSc with a psychology focus, while PhD applicants need an MA/MSc in psychology. Competitive applicants generally maintain a strong academic record (minimum 3.5 GPA or B average) with psychology specialization. Preference is given to candidates with Honours degrees or equivalent research experience.
Beyond meeting Graduate Admissions and departmental requirements, admission depends on faculty availability for supervision. Highly qualified applicants may be declined if no suitable faculty member can accommodate additional students or match research interests.
