Program Outcomes
Students earning an MA in Mathematics will gain the ability to: pursue doctoral studies in mathematics
fulfill the widespread demand for professionals with analytical and critical thinking abilities, utilize problem-solving techniques across diverse environments, especially in social sciences and education, instruct mathematics at secondary and certain post-secondary levels
implement mathematical concepts in social science research
It would be minimizing to claim that advanced mathematics and statistics don't permeate every scientific and social science discipline. In our data-saturated world, mathematicians uniquely uncover hidden patterns and relationships.
Increasing numbers of students are attracted to our discipline, whether for its inherent elegance or to complement their studies in other fields. Regardless of motivation, UVic's Mathematics and Statistics programs provide both undergraduate and graduate students with a competitive advantage for any professional path.
