In Germanic and Slavic studies, you'll explore language, culture, and history while developing academic and professional skills for international careers. The program includes field schools and global practicums, offering comprehensive cultural examination from film and literature to language and folklore. Our dynamic approach fosters intellectual curiosity and critical thinking. The Master's program offers three specialized tracks: Germanic, Slavic, and our new Holocaust studies concentration.
Germanic and Slavic Studies unequivocally condemns Russia's unjustified aggression against Ukraine's sovereignty. We mourn the tragic civilian casualties, mass displacement of Ukrainians, and continuing humanitarian emergency. We strongly oppose the Russian government's actions and its supporters, while acknowledging the courage of Russians protesting the war. Amid growing global divisions, we appreciate the solidarity shown by countless individuals worldwide - Canadians, Ukrainians, Russians, and others - who reject the Russian government's unlawful conduct. Our support remains firmly with Ukraine and its courageous defenders.
Joining our Ukrainian and Ukrainian-Canadian colleagues, students, and community members, we encourage support for organizations providing crucial aid during this crisis.
