This program is provided through a collaboration between the Department of Linguistics and the Division of Continuing Studies. The Certificate aims to cultivate conversational proficiency in ASL while fostering an understanding and appreciation of Deaf Community culture. Through this, participants gain insight into linguistic and cultural diversity, ultimately improving their intercultural communication skills and cultural awareness.
Our department features programs examining diverse aspects of language, from structural analysis to global perspectives. We also partner with UVic's Indigenous Education to support Indigenous language revitalization initiatives.
