Geography explores the relationship between humans and the natural environment, examining our influence on it and its effects on us. We approach issues through diverse lenses, incorporating physical sciences, social sciences, and humanities perspectives. Students develop specialized skills to address emerging environmental and global challenges. The Department of Geography offers two undergraduate degree options: a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science. During the final two years, students focus on a specific discipline within their chosen major. These programs prepare graduates for professional careers or advanced studies. After choosing a degree path, students can consult our degree planning resources for guidance on course selection, including required geography classes and complementary courses from other departments. Each program includes a customized degree planning form.
The School of Earth and Ocean Sciences provides both honours and major degree options. Our interdisciplinary approach enables several joint degree programs with other departments.
These programs combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on laboratory and field experience. Practical work opportunities are available through co-op placements, work-study programs, and summer research positions.
