Geography explores the Earth's surface through two primary lenses: first, as the science analyzing interactions among environmental elements like climate, vegetation, soil, and terrain; and second, as the study of human population distribution and behaviors in relation to social and environmental influences. Systematic geography focuses on the positioning, spread, organization, and connections of interrelated features, while regional geography investigates all geographic aspects within specific locations. Regardless of methodology, certain specialized geographic skills and techniques remain essential.
Mirroring the discipline's diversity and unique skill requirements, the Department provides coursework across three concentrations: Cultural Geography, Physical Geography, and Geomatics. Students can pursue either General or Four-year Bachelor's degrees in Arts or Science, along with B.A. or B.Sc. Honours degrees.
