The Master of Science in Physical Therapy (MScPT) is a two-year professional graduate program that prepares students for clinical practice. Accredited by Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC), this program enables graduates to take the Physiotherapy Competency Examination (PCE) administered by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators, granting them the qualifications to practice across Canada. Graduates also gain eligibility to join the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and provincial regulatory colleges.
The Physical Therapy Department strives to enhance individual health through knowledge creation, implementation, and sharing. Its values reflect the University's mission, the School of Graduate Studies' objectives, and the Temerty Faculty of Medicine's commitment to cultivating an academic environment that supports learning and research while upholding human rights, equal opportunity, fairness, and justice. The MScPT curriculum not only meets but surpasses PEAC standards, following the Competency Profile for Physiotherapists in Canada (2017). This framework identifies seven key practice areas: clinical expertise, communication, teamwork, management, leadership, research, and professional conduct. Students will cultivate clinical proficiency, ethical awareness, and the ability to apply these skills in modern physical therapy practice, adhering to professional guidelines like the Physiotherapy Act and established core values.
