The Department of Economics provides graduate programs culminating in Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. These programs aim to enhance students' analytical skills in economics through intensive training in theoretical concepts, econometric methods, and diverse economic fields. Program alumni have secured prestigious academic appointments, significant government roles, and rewarding positions in private sector organizations. With its extensive and varied faculty, the department enables students to focus on nearly any economics specialization.
This accelerated pathway enables students to earn both a JD and an 8-month MA degree in just three years, compared to the standard four years required for separate degrees. (Important: This combined program cannot be paired with other collaborative programs.) Prospective students must submit separate applications to each program while specifying their interest in the Combined JD/MA Program. Admission to the combined track occurs only after gaining acceptance to both the JD and MA programs individually. Participants remain registered with the Faculty of Law throughout all three years, with dual registration in the Economics Department during the final two years.
