Students in life sciences programs develop skills in scientific inquiry to examine living organisms, health, medicine, and disease. Health and life sciences education enables learners to comprehend and evaluate the functions of human and other biological systems. This field equips students to address the ethical, societal, and policy challenges stemming from our growing capacity to safeguard Earth's intricate ecological equilibrium. Qualified Life Sciences undergraduates may participate in the Arts & Science Internship Program following their first year, obtaining 12-20 months of paid professional experience and specialized training. Internship opportunities span diverse environments such as medical facilities, research centers, drug manufacturers, healthcare marketing firms, and beyond.
An exceptional bachelor's degree in biology opens doors to numerous career paths, including cutting-edge research, pharmaceutical sectors, biotech fields, forensic science, and other opportunities. UTM's biology faculty supports students in achieving these professional aspirations. Our institution provides dynamic undergraduate programs covering all key biological disciplines, with focused studies in four primary concentrations: Ecology & Field Biology, Whole Organisms, Genetics & Evolution, Cell, Molecular & Developmental Biology, and Physiology & Behavior.

English Language Requirements
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The minimum requirement is an overall band of 6.5, with no band below 6.0.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): The minimum scores required for the different TOEFL tests are:
Internet-based Test:
Minimum Requirement: total score of 100 + 22 on Writing
Discretionary Range: total score 89-99 + 22 on Writing
Cambridge Assessment English C1: Advanced or C2: Proficiency: A minimum overall score of 180, with at least 170 in each component.
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): The minimum score required to meet our English facility requirement is an overall score of 70 and no part below 60.
Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST): The minimum requirement is a total score of 4.5, and no part below 4.
