Theatre, Drama, and Performance Studies explores the dynamic interplay between playwrights crafting scripts, performers bringing those scripts to life, and audiences engaging with the final production. This discipline investigates both the theatrical experience itself and the creative processes behind it. Students examine plays, performers, performance spaces, design elements, and audience interactions across history - from ancient Greek theater to contemporary experimental works.
At U of T Mississauga, the Erindale Studio Theatre and Multi-Media Studio Theatre (MiST) serve as central hubs for both academic and extracurricular theater activities. Theatre Erindale, the production arm of the Specialist Program, stages performances in the Erindale Studio Theatre, which also hosts shows by the U of T Mississauga Drama Club. MiST functions as a versatile space for instructional purposes and student-led performances across various programs.
