Indigenous Studies is a multidisciplinary undergraduate program focused on exploring Indigenous communities in Canada and globally. The curriculum provides classes that foster a deep and considerate appreciation of Indigenous languages, cultures, histories, governance systems, artistic expressions, intellectual heritage, and research approaches. INS provides Specialist, Major, and Minor degree options through the Faculty of Arts & Science.
Indigenous Studies contributes to the Faculty of Arts & Science Language Citation Initiative for Anishinaabemowin. Learning Anishinaabe is a challenging yet intellectually fulfilling pursuit. Mastering this language showcases cognitive ability, dedication, analytical skills, and strong memorization. Studying languages offers profound understanding of diverse cultural perspectives and forms of communication.
