The Developmental Psychology and Education program is provided through the Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development at OISE, granting Master of Arts (MA), Master of Education (MEd), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. Participants can build a comprehensive understanding of developmental psychology and human development, exploring their applications in educational and other practical contexts involving children. The curriculum includes core courses in human development and research methods, along with electives spanning cognitive, social, and emotional development; language, literacy, and mathematics instruction; special education; developmental neuroscience; advanced research techniques; and early childhood policy initiatives like childcare. The MA and PhD tracks cater to those pursuing academic or research-oriented careers, while the MEd is tailored for educators and professionals in related fields seeking deeper reflection on practice. The PhD program focuses on theoretical and research aspects of developmental psychology across the lifespan, preparing graduates for university teaching or research-intensive roles. Both full-time and flexible-time PhD options are available, with the latter designed for working professionals who wish to continue employment while pursuing advanced studies. The academic requirements remain identical for both PhD pathways.
